Awet Teame

Meet Awet Teame!

Awet Teame is a multi-faceted creative, blending comedy, acting, voiceover, writing, and spiritual coaching into a career that is as dynamic as it is impactful.

Born in Eritrea and raised in Boston, Awet discovered her passion for storytelling early, pursuing her degree at Emerson College where she first stepped into the world of stand-up comedy. Since then, her journey has spanned more than two decades across Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Boston, earning her a reputation as both a fearless performer and a community builder.

As a comedian, Awet has performed at The Comedy Studio, Improv Boston, and clubs nationwide. She has also produced and hosted shows in Boston, Quincy, San Francisco, and Los Angeles — including her newest venture, RetroGags, a comedy brand and live showcase that celebrates bold, authentic humor. Her comedy draws from her Eritrean roots, personal resilience, and razor-sharp observations, leaving audiences laughing and thinking in equal measure.

On screen, Awet has appeared in Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood, TV One’s For My Man, and Syfy Channel’s Total Blackout (including an All-Star episode). Her film credits include Daddy’s Home 2, where she earned her first featured background role, and the 2016 Ghostbusters, where she appeared in the deleted scenes as a campus security officer dragging Kristen Wiig’s character out of the Dean’s office. She was also featured in a Lyft ad campaign across Massachusetts and has brought her voice to a range of voiceover projects for both commercial and narrative work.

As a writer, Awet contributed a witty and poignant essay to the anthology What Doesn’t Kill Her: Women’s Stories of Resilience, putting a funny spin on a tragic life experience. The book is available for purchase on Amazon, allowing readers everywhere to connect with her story of resilience told through humor.

Outside of acting and comedy, Awet expanded her creative voice as a radio host on WZBR 1410 AM’s The MoWet Show, The Bass of Boston, where she connected with local audiences through humor, music, and conversation.

Beyond performance, Awet is a certified Master Life & Success Coach, NLP practitioner, EFT and Theta Healing practitioner, hypnotherapist, and energy worker. She created the AWET Method — Activate, Welcome, Elevate, Transmute — to help clients stop self-sabotage, reconnect with their inner wisdom, and build unshakable confidence. Through her coaching, Awet teaches people to rely on their own inner guidance, connect with what she calls their spirit posse or spirit team, replenish their own energy, guard themselves from toxicity, and manifest alongside the universe. Her clients learn to live in a state of joy and empowerment that no one can take away.

Awet’s creative and spiritual work is complemented by her civic engagement. She was elected as a Brookline Town Meeting Member (Precinct 4), where she advocates for equity and community growth. She is also an alumna of Hack.Diversity, where she built skills in tech and leadership, later using that confidence to expand into entertainment, writing, and entrepreneurship.

Today, Awet continues to thrive as a multi-dimensional artist and guide — performing stand-up, acting in film and television, producing original comedy projects, recording voiceovers, writing, and coaching clients worldwide. Whether on stage, on screen, or in a one-on-one session, her mission is clear: to inspire laughter, healing, and transformation.
